I have had success with 51 (fifty-one) grains of H414 Remington 9 1/2M primers and 140 grain Nosler Partition bullets and of course WW cases. This load is in an Micro-Medallion from Browning. COL to fit in magazine. 2955fps *Your mileage may vary*

You won't do any better in a 284 than IMR4350. In 3 different rifles, I've tried RL 19 and 22, H4831, H4350 and the like. It always comes back to IMR4350 for top velocity with excellent accuracy. My latest rifle is the Winchester short action with a COL of around 3". With a 23" barrel, 3050 is easy with 140's. I've never seriously tried heavier bullets in it.

Thanks for the info. I've been wanting to try IMR4350. I have been using H4831SC behind a Speer 145 WLR primers, and caution this is hot in some rifles 60 grs. of H4831. Getting 3025 fps with it in the A-bolt. Haven't tried it in the 24" yet, because I don't have that rifle here yet. RL19 did alright velocity wise, getting about 2950 with 58 grs. It was very accurate, but not quite the velocity it should be. Haven't had time to work up loads for the 150's or 160's yet. Was saving those for the new long action rifle. Thanks, Dave

Dfry, your results resemble mine. RL19 should theoretically be perfect for the 284 case. I could never get the velocities out of it however. IMR4350 is a nuisance in the powder measure and trickler because of the longer "kernels", but it's worth it.

My Weatherby (was a 7mm-08) shoots 53.5 grains of H414 and the 150 Sierra Game King in less than .5 at 100. Haven't had the chance to try it on game yet. Bob257
