I have been reloading a bunch of 223 lately. Its very agrivating on my dillion 550 because you cant tell military winchester and pmc brass from the other brass till you try to prime it.I know dillion makes a swager and rcbs but it wont work on my 550 dillion.Who else makes one?

I think you just listed the crop. You might want to try one of the crimp removing reamers, such as Lyman sells for cheap enough.

totally agree with Jim C. the swager is a real pain. the reamer is quick, cheap and effective. id give my swager away if i hadnt broke it.

Unit doesn't mount too the 550 ??. It's a separate tool which mouts too either a board or bench top . Mine is mounted too my bench with quick disconnect pins , there fore making it removable in seconds , while not in use . I'm confused by it not working " With my 550 " ?. What does the press have to do with anything ?. After The cases are prepped properly Any press will work .

I have to admit, separating them by headstamp sure saves a lot of frustration... I handprime all of my brass... because it is softer, I use Win Primers on WCC brass and unknown military.... I also go thru about 4 to 5 of the decapping rods on the Lee Universal Decapping Dies courtesy of military brass... Life Member: The American Vast Right Wing Conspiracy Jan 20, 2009.. Mount this object on a wooden board. Clamp the wooden board to the bench.

I don't believe you're going to find a home reloading setup where you pour range pickup brass in the hopper of a progressive press and get usable loaded ammo from the golden spigot on the other end. I sort by type, deprime, decrimp and trim. After a tumble thru the media they can be loaded like any other brass. If they're going in my 20" flattop I'll segregate out the LC brass by year and take a little more time with it for the "Good Stuff".

Doc224/375 and tnekkcc have it right. The Dillon super swage 600 is THE tool to use for primer crimp removal. Does not remove metal (a good thing). It is purpose built to handle the job without breakage, unless you totally misuse it. Then Dillon will fix it for you, usually at no cost to you, save shipping one way. +1 on what Rick R said. Common sense and good tooling will go a long way to making life easier at the loading bench. muck

I have two of them one I purchased New one I got a deal at a garage sale $ 10.00 !!!. How do you say No . A machinist friend made an attachment too the used one and it now is a de priming tool , removed the stock swivel made the contraption uses the stock pin . To place it back in it's stock configuration remove the keeper pin and replace the stock unit . I have yet to break a de capping pin on it and it's going on 13-14 years now . Maybe 25-30K military cases ??.

+1 I've tried several different swaging and primer pocket prep tools. The Dillon is the last one I'll use, it works superbly and is so much better than any other method I've tried I don't even want to mention them..................................DJ ....Remember that this is all supposed to be for fun!..................
