Hi, how far from your home is your preferred shooting range? Mine is at 60 Km +/-

P.S. It's in France and it's very well equipped: shotgun, pistol 25-50 m., rifle 100-200-300m. and sometimes they open a 500 m. line; they run a small bar-restaurant too. It's situated about 8 km north of Monte-Carlo. This is their website.

The club I belong to is 21 miles from home. About a 40 minute drive. Pistol, shotgun and rifle at various ranges out to 300 yds.

I am about 5 miles from our range. On a perfect day, I can hear the reports from my back porch.

The golf course where I usually play is about 3 miles, and the lake is about the same. And my wife wants to sell this single wide and move to the city.........no way! Smiler Jim R

I never measured the miles, but the drive takes 15-20 minutes.

15 miles, but the bad part is from Dec-Feb they're only open on Sunday for non members, Wed and Sunday the rest of the year. It's a private range, but they have public days, and 50 people on waiting list for membership. They recently put a 600 member cap on membership due to the public range in town closing down.

I'm 20 minutes from this 1000 yard range. Fifteen points with pit-operated targets, firing lines at 200, 300, 600, 800, 900 and 1000 yards, and a separate 200 yard, covered benchrest range.

My other club with indoor smallbore and pistol, outdoor smallbore, trap and skeet is 10 minutes away.

I built my own on a buddies place, less than 10 min from home. I have 100 and 300yd targets. with a great bench. It is private with only a few friends using it. Many times antelope have walked around the targets when I was shooting and I had to wait to let them walk off!!

15 miles, 25 minutes

The problem is wind, becuase the range does not open until noon wed, thurs, fri, and sunday. It opens at 10 a.m. on Sat.

The wind is typically 10 m.p.h., so I have to wait for a day with less wind.

With 6 m.p.h. wind, I can test some guns at 50 yards.

Many days have zero wind at 6 a.m., but I can't get in there.

I have a resetting 22 target that I shoot at from the porch but the official shooting bench is @ 10 yards from the reloading shop. Its in the open so I'm thinking about building a cover over it so I can shoot when it rains (or snows).
If I had of had my wits about me, I'd have built the shop in a different place so I could shoot out a window. I can shoot to 240 yards.

Depends on how far I want to shoot if I want more the 300 yards I have to travel 5 miles I can get 700 yards there. If I want under 300 I just step out the basement door walk the distance I need to shoot and shoot.

If one can't pee out the front door and shoot out the back with out any body complaining I would be living in the wrong place.

100 yard range out the side door of the house. Longest range I know of around here is 200 yards and its 20+ miles. I try to keep it quiet from September through December as I am hunting.

I do pretty well with ballistic tables as a result. Last time I went to Wyoming I got off the plane, checked into the motel in Jackson Hole and went to the range.

Fired three rounds from the .338 Win Mag on the 300 yard gong there ... 2" group ... perfectly centered on the gong. I went hunting.
