I am considering a smaller varmint rifle and all exploring options. A .222 or .223 / .17 wild cat is appealing but I would have to go through a lot of frigmarole in order to get the thing approved and built. The 22PPC would be a little beefier and more readily availiable for me here. Question; How can I form brass for it, I assume it would involve more than one step and die to go from .243 to .224? What about the .17/222 or .17/223 once I get the dies how complicated would forming the brass be? Thanks for any help I can get...

G'day, I just neck down 6PPC brass in the 22PPC full length sizer no problem. For the 17 neck down I use a form die.Check that you only neck the brass down far enough so you get a little bit of feel on the bolt when closing so headspace will not be a problem. Also check the loaded diameter of the necks so that you know that there is at least 1-2 thou expansion possible in chamber neck area.Neck turn if necasary. Good luck, Charlie

G'day Charlie, what do you think of the 22PPC? I am real happy with the 6PPC, accuracy and even use it on pigs and deer. I'm considering a smaller more varmint orientated rifle, from what I gather the 22PPC produces ballistics similar to a 22-250? Thanks mate.

Express, I would rather have a 223 than a 22PPC for paddock work. Velocity is very close at similar pressures and accuracy improvements with the 22PPc in the varmint rifles I have had was not very big if it all with factory projectiles like 50 Nosler BT's or similar. The 223 brass is a lot cheaper also. I would stick with the 6PPC and 223. I am not keen on 17's,to hard to load and clean in comparison to a 22cal. Good luck, Regards, Charlie
