I have used up the last of my H-205 and am looking for a new powder for my 308. Varget or Reloader 15 for 150-165 gr hunting loads?

Both are superb. Try both and see which your gun likes the best. If it comes down to a decision between trying one or the other I'd get the one you can get the best price on. Performance-wise they are so close in the 308 and other rounds that there's not much to choose between them IMHO.
I usually use Varget because it also works great with 69gr 223's and 52gr bullets in my 22-250..............................DJ

I think djpaintles is right. I tried RE15 first and didn't have to try anything else, but I have friends that have as good luck with Varget. I have found that I get better accuracy from Re15 the closer to max loads I go.

I use 47gr of Varget and 150gr Nosler BTs with my Remington PSS. Getting 3/8" to 1/2" groups. The 150gr NBT is whitetail dynomite.

I use them both in the .308 WCF and get fantastic performance from them.

I don't think you can go wrong with either.

Years ago, I used a lot of Re15 but stopped loading for the 308 for over a decade. It's just another perfect powder for this caliber.

I second Varget, AND will add that IMR4064 is yet another perfect powder for your combo.

I think RL 15 works better with bullets of about 165-168 in weight . I don't think it works as well in the 308 for the lighter 150's I used to like 748 with 150's in the 308. I had a load, the bullets where seated way out that would run 3090 from a 26" barrel,

Ditto on all of the above. If tied in the accuracy department I like Varget for it's temperature insensitivity, although RL-15 is supposed to be fairly insensitive, also.

+1 on what Cummins said. I found little difference at 150 grain, but R15 shot 180s better than varget(at the same speed!)
good shooting

Neither worked that great for 2 of my guns. My 308 blr really really like re12 (hard to find I admit). And my 308 bar loves 748. I guess the bottom line is the 308 is easy to load for and likes many things.

I shoot 2 old winchester .308s.
And like Kraky , neither seem to like varget, or RL-15. But Both shoot great with W-748,
And IMR-4064.
I have had other .308s in the past and Varget and RL-15 were great in most.

What about 130gr TSX or TTSX? Anyone load these in your .308? If so what kind of accuracy and velocity are you getting?

sometimes its what the rifle wants, not what the shooter wants.. varget, 4895, BL-C2, 4320, 4064, RL-15,.. are all great powders for the .308 mine likes 45.0 grs, of RL-15 with 150s.. sierra or speer. B.T. this is one of the easiest rounds to load for..i think there is a post in the [SHARE YOUR FAVORITE LOAD WITH US] column on the .308 win.. on this sight

I just worked up two rifles with Varget and 130 TTSXs. Got about 2800 out of both with 45 grains of Varget. One was about 3/4' the other about an inch. There was obviously room to go up but these were hunting rifles with low end glass on them so I stopped where they got to good enough.

My '06 like the 130 TTSXs a lot and throws them from 2900-3100 all in the same place. The same gun didn't really like TSX 130s. From 2800-3200 it would group from 1" at best to 3" at worst with the best groups down at 2850
