| This may or may not help you any,but might give you a bit of an idea as to what it works like...
My local freinds and I bought about 64 pounds of it 13 or 14 years ago. It was packaged for a Tucson AZ importer by TCCI in Phoenix, AZ. That arrangement fell apart and a lawsuit reportedly ensued.
We used it for cast bullet benchrest shooting from 4 different versions of the .30-BR, with 196 to 215 grain GC bullets. We all ended up using about 29-29.5 grains, ahead of either WSR or F-205M primers. It shot very well, but no better than IMR or H 4895, and was dirtier burning than both.
It WAS very inexpensive, though, so was a good, useful tool at the time. |

| I just re-read Roger's post comparing BW-36 to IMR 3031.
Roger is certainly correct, in that when sold BW-36 was also called "3031 Data Powder". If I recall correctly, the powder suppliers even said to use 3031 data either somewhere on one of the 2 lb. or the 8 lb. packages, or with the data sheet that was provided by TCCI.
Pretty much everyone I know of personally who used it found it a bit slower burning than 3031, but that is no surprise. H-4831, when first sold, was advertised as "4350 data powder".....meaning that if you used 4350 data you were in no danger of getting an overload, regardless of cartridge.
Same is true with BW-36. If you use good, tested, commercially cannistered 3031 data, you are in no danger of hurting yourself with the BW-36, regardeless which cartridge you use it in....most of the time. (There are exceptions to EVERY rule.) |
