I was looking through Speer's latest manual, yesterday, and noticed that thier data provides SIGNIFICANTLY higher velocities for the 7mm-08 than other data sources. All this from a 24" barrel. Anybody got any ideas on why this is? Their data was, if I remember correctly, from a Remington 700 with a 24" barrel, but the other sources showed a 24" barrel, as well.
Were their loads showing more powder? I've noticed theirs to usually show a heavier charge compared to Nosler and some others. THey test in real prodiction guns, not tight chambered pressure barrels.

BUGHOLE: Speer works up the loads in SAAMI compliant pressure barrels and then shoots the loads from production guns to list velocity for their book. Only for cartridges that pressure barrels are not readily available do they work up the loads by case head expansion and primer appearance and other related signs.
