| I use 46 grains of Varget. It is the one and only "extreme" load I have found that truly gives zero temperature variation. |

| I think 46 gr Varget is close to max with the 165. Start lower and work up. I settled on 45.7 in my rifle. ...ol blue |

| While you didn't list N550 as a powder, if you have some N550 start at 46 gr. and work up to around 47 gr. That powder has given better accuracy, and velocity in my 308's than anything else. At 47.1 gr. of N550 with a Federal 210M primer in Winchester brass, it gives 2754 fps avg. velocity and accuracy in .5's to .6's for five shots. At 308 velocities I have had good luck with the 165 gr. GameKing.

| Best load in 308 I ever used--several rifles--was the Sierra Game King 165 grainer with 47.0 grains of WW-748. My start load was 44.0, and all rifles tried went to 47.0 safely and found this to be a "sweet spot". Velocities ran 2700 or so, and 100 yard results were on the order of .5" to .8" in standard contour hunting rifles (BDL's and a M-70, and even an HK-91). In one 700 Varmint, it shot as well as Federal Match factory loads with the 168 MK's. |
