Save the additional effort and do a 260 Rem or, better yet, a 6.5X55. It'll be more flexible. If you want a quarter-bore then do a 257 Roberts (or a 250 Sav in a short action). A 25-08 is a solution for a problem that doesn't exist.

What length action? I wouldn't recommend the 257 roberts in a short action. However, if you are using a standard length action I highly recommend the 257 Ackley. I consider it to be the very best of the 25's and all you have to do is fire form Roberts brass.

I don't have any experience with the 25-08.

Sounds like you need a 257DGR

Take a look at this link
http://www.duanesguns.com

I went with the 257DGR for varoious reason. So far it has been a great round.

The 257Roberts is a bit long for a Rem short action with the larger bullets IMO.

Good Hunting

I have both.... a 25-308 Ack Impr and a 260. Not much difference in velocities with 120g bullets. I prefer the 260 since heavier bullets are available. I especially like the 260 with 125g Nos Partitions...
