My reloading manuals (a few years old - 10 or 11), don't give any reloading data for the 9.3X62. I've gotten a few loads for RL15, IMR4320, and was wondering if there is anything for IMR4064 or if it is the correct burning rate for the 9.3X62. I like the IMR4064 for 30.06, .308, 7X57 and was just curious since there is a load for the .458 Win. Mag. with the IMR4064. All help appreciated. Thanks, Mike

FourTails,

I know you asked for IMR data, but I thought I'd mention this reference in any event. Since the 9.3x62 is a European cartridge, you may not find an over-abundance of reference material for this cartridge in the US.

VV powders are fully available in the US, so maybe the VV data might be helpful??

Speer #s 12 + 13 have data for 270 grs bullets. ASquare has some "data" on 286 grs. Noslers new #5 has data, but I dont have it yet.

FourTails, your are right about the IMR 4064. Try 58 grains, RWS brass, 91/2RP, behind 285 or 286 grains RWS solids. I took an Elefant a few weeks ago with a side brain shot. The bullet exited on the other side.

Four Tails,

i don't know if you've seen this yet, but here are a few loads for IMR 4064 and the 270 Speer:

58.0 grains - 2542fps
57.0 grains - 2421fps
55.0 grains - 2310fps

hope this helps

I like H4895 for my 9.3x62. My max load is 60gr behind a 286gr Nosler primed with WW WLMR primer. This load is about 2350 in 23" barrel. My max load for a 270 Speer is 61grs of H4895 with a FC210M primer. This load is about 2400 from a 23" barrel. My max load for 250 Nosler BTs is 61grs of H4895 with FC210M primer. This load is about 2500 from a 23" barrel. Notice: I shoot a custom M98 and this load is not for 96 actions, and should be worked up to in any other rifles. This loads shoot under an inch @ 100yds.
