And, you can always make .358 Win brass out of .308 Win brass. (Just FYI in case you weren't aware of this.) Just make sure your sizing die has a tapered expander. I don't own a .358 Winchester but I've made .35 Whelen brass out of .30-06 brass using RCBS dies with their tapered expander.

I dont know how desperately you want the brass, but there is a jackass on auction arms selling some for $55 a bag of fifty.

If he really gets $55 for that bag I'd say he's one smart jackass.

He has been posting it for months. Its been amusing watching him trying to finagle(sic) a way to try and get people to bid on it. First he listed it for $50 a bag, plus $10 shipping. He then lowered the price to $49 on one of the bags, but the others were still $50. He then tried to go with a reserve, but the most anyone would bid on a bag was $25. Then he listed them with a reserve, but some "Phantom bidder" with no feedback, bid up to $45 on one of the bags, which met the reserve.
Then he listed them for $55 a bag, but left one of the bags with a reserve of $45, again the phantom bidder bidded $45.
Now he is back to selling listing them for $55 a bag.
I dont think they are "brass" at all, the cases are probably made of 14 karat gold.

358 Win bras sis VERY hard to come by, you'll find that most every place that normally carries it is out off stock and has been out of stock for months and months (that was my experience). But I finally did find a source which I posted some weeks ago:

https://forums.accuratereloading.com/eve/forums/a/tp.../920101724#920101724

He treated me fairly, so if he still has some I think you're golden. If not, I may have 100 extra new cases I could part with...

Good luck...

Winchester makes it once or twice a year. I no longer buy 358 Win brass. I simply use new, unfired, Remington 308 brass and run it through my sizing die which has a tapered expander. I have had no losses during neck expansion with NEW brass. I gave up trying to expand once fired brass a long time ago. I use Remington brass because it is softer and will expand easier than Winchester brass. I have found that Remington brass needs the
primer pockets reamed for unformity which is easy since it is relatively soft.

Whem Winchester announced it was dropping certain cartridges, including the .2358, I stocked up on what I hoped would be a lifetime supply through a friend who sells components at a gun show.
Now, Winchester says they wil make the brass on a "seasonal" basis. From what I have been able to find out, seasonal means when enough of their distributors ask for a run. That could mean a several year with before their is enough demand. That sucks! thumbdown
I also exoerimented with converting .308 Win. brass to .358 should the need occur. As was discribed, using a tapered expander makes the job a piece of cake. However, one thing I learned was you should trim the necks just enough to square them off, and the loads will be more accurate on the second loading, after the cases have been fireformed. I shoot five diffefrent rifles in .358 Win. and I found that to be true in all five rifles.
For those converting 30-06 brass into .35 Whelen, the above also holds true. The difference in accuracy gain is small, but there nonetheless.
I love the .35s. thumb

Ditto and I agree. Good advice. After sizing/necking up, I trim the .30-06 case just enough to square up the case mouth. (When making .35 Whelen brass out of .30-06 brass.)

Hard Luck. Great deal. When I was gainfully employed, my boses neighbor pased away and his widow gave him a bunch of ammo. On the buch were ten boxes of 8.8x51MM with 200 gr. bullets in sealed boxed marked, "FOR EXPORT ONLY". My boss sold them to me for $10, yes, that's $1.00 a box. I opened one up to see what I had, and the headstamps said WW Super .358 Win., oh happy day! I've had really great luck when itcame to the .358. I've fallen into great deals on brass, ammo and even rifles. maybe there's a message there. cheers
