Does anyone know about where the burn rate falls for the hodgdon superformamce powder? Or maybe which is fastest of superformance, rl17 and the hybrid 100v?

Thanks. I only have the 2009 annual so that one and rl 17 aren't listed

Here's Hodgdon's Burn Rate chart.

H4831 and H4831SC are #128, Superformance is #130.

It's even color-coded.

I pulled the bullet from the Hornady Superformance 7mm-08 loaded with the 139gr SST bullet supposedly giving 2950fps (likely in a 24" barrel).

There was 47.8grs Superformance powder in the factory loaded round and when reassembled and fired in a Marlin XS7 with a 22" barrel the MV recorded was 2901fps.

When using 47.0grs H4350 (AR2209) in the same rifle with 139gr SST bullets I got the same 2900fps MV so the slightly slower Superformance powder in the 7mm-08 at least, seems to provide performance close to H4350.

Super's slower than H4350. I can fit 50gr of it behind a 180 7mm projectile without pressure issues, but 47gr is too much pressure for H4350. RL17 is also faster than Super with the lots I've tested. RL17 and H4350 yielded similar velocities with similar charge weights behind a 180gr projectile at max pressure.

RL17 is supposed to be temperature sensitive while H4350 is not. Hodgedon/Hornady's published information on Superformance is that it's not supposed to be very temp sensitive, but I've not tested it myself.
