I just returned from the range and have finally settled on my final 375 H&H loading for Zambia. The rifle is a Winchester Mdl 70 Safari Express which has been glass bedded and had both the action and trigger worked. It will be my light rifle for this trip, paired with a Ruger Safari Magnum in 416 Rigby. The 375 H&H load is: 68 Gr IMR 4064, Federal 215 Large Rifle Primers and Barnes 300 Gr TSX bullets for a velocity average of 2575. In my rifle, this combination produces a single ragged hole at 100 yards. "There are worse memorials to a life well-lived than a pair of elephant tusks." Robert Ruark

IIRC, 68 gr of IMR 4064 is the ol' Jack O'Connor standard for 300 gr bullets in the .375 H&H. I use it (with a WLR primer) with the 300 gr Hornady RN for about 2480 fps in my Ruger M77 Magnum. Very accurate load in my rifle. -Bob F.

I'm using 67.5 grains of IMR4064 with the 300 grain TSX in my 375H&H and it gets me 2480 fps at 10 feet from the muzzle. And one ragged hole. ![]() Frank "I don't know what there is about buffalo that frightens me so.....He looks like he hates you personally. This is an old classic load for the .375. It is a classic for a reason, but then again, there wasn't any RL15 available then. A shot not taken is always a miss

Funny you should mention RL15. I tried it and had less than desirable results. "There are worse memorials to a life well-lived than a pair of elephant tusks." Robert Ruark

I've had very good results with RE`15 and Barnes X 270's, about 74 grains, also with Hornady 270 spires and RNs. But I've liked IMR 4320 with 300's and Sierra 250 Bt. 67 in the 300 and about 70-71 with the 250s. Very accurate.
