FYI Roll EyesThe $29.00 MTM electronic scale's batteries went low after sorting perhaps 2000, 22lr cartridges. OK ,I guess, but when I went to get replacement batteries the cost was going to be $10.00 at two different places.

The scale is now in the process of being remodeled to utilize an external power supply. That might turn out to be 4 D size batteries or a plug in 6 DC volt supply. This isn't all bad as I've had to do the same for chronographs whose batteries drain quickly. popcorn

So far this inexpensive scale has worked quite well and with some TLC it might last for a while. beer

Hey Roger, Mine is still going strong. Not sure how many I've Weight Sorted.

It would have been excellent if it had been accurate to 0.1gr on every reading, but I can live with the 0.2gr guaranty for the Weight Sorting.

Have also used it to check the weight of letters on the Ounce function. Sure is nice to know when one is close to 1oz, but not over.

Best of luck on your Mod.

We sing from the same sheet of music. My Reddings have been in use for over 50 years. They really are too slow , however for sorting.

WinkBy the by--- the power supply was hooked up and another 300 rounds were sorted. popcorn

While putting the power supply together my cousin gave me 2 boxes of Peter's HV that gotta be at least 40 years old. Since I started playing with the 22 LR guys have been giving me ammo. Got so much now I guess I'll just have to get another 22. beerroger

I just set the beam scale to 96.1 grains, put each case on the scale, quickly see if it.s over or under, then set the scale to 95.1 and only keep the cases that weigh over.

It may take twice as long as the electronic scale, but I didn't trust that electronic scale. You could weigh the same case 3 different times and get 3 different numbers.

Hey Bartsche, I'd not looked but thought they were the CR2032s.

Hate to tell you this, but I went through a store one day and spotted some very small LED flashlights for 99cents. Got a few and they each had 2-CR2032s in them.

Our local Auto Zone occasionally runs a Sale on them for $1 each. The 2032s are what powers Chevy key Fobs. And the same batterys are in the 3-illuminated scopes I have.

Where did they try to rip your head off for $10 for two of them?

Hey Vapo, Once you begin "Case Sorting" or "22Rimfire Sorting", you will understand how good $29.95 looks for an electronic scale.

Not sure it elevates Bartsche and me to the "Superior Reloader Status" though, cause we didn't totally waste our money on a HSGS Fiasco like your doughnut-eating Hero. clap

This reloading/shooting hobby is something everyone does their own way......and sitting at a scale weighing .22 rimfire shells has never been my style.....nor brass either for that matter.

When I hunt squirrels I use a .22 LR rifle with a 6X scope and shoot them in the heads.....usually in the eye.....actually trying to hit the pupil of the eye has never been of much value to me.

Dead squirrel is dead squirrel in my book! animal

I haven't eaten a squirrel since I was stationed in Virgina in "55". Kinda lean toward beef now days. That prime rib makes better gravey than squirrel too.

Having a hard time eating all my Halibut to boot. popcornroger

Here in UK the target rimfire boys used to believe that sorting by the size of the rim was more important. Not weight. Something to do with the amount of percussion mix in the rim and therefore the ignition and therefore the velocity of the cartridge.

They used to have a disc like the back quarter inch of a match chamber with the area for the rim and the first quarter inch of the case above that that the cartridge had to fit into.

If it didn't they would call it and separate it out.

One of the 22RF officianatos at the range pointed this out to me.

So far the weight sorting hasn't seemed to be doing any good.

I'll stick with it for just a little longer to make sure I'm giving it a fair try.I've only got a couple hundred more to go.

As far as the batteries go,I feel I'm a lot farther ahead of the game with the new plug in power supply. fishingroger
