Have been using H4831 over a Hornady 175 gr.Spire Point Boat tail bullet in my Rem. Sendero with a 26in. bbl. I have been using 56 grains with a Rem.9 1/2M primer. Usually get 3/4 to 7/8 groups at 100 yds. Have you tried backing down your charge a bit. 62.3grains is close to max. in the Hodgdon manual. Sometimes close to max loads don't usually give the best accuracy. Current Web Site of Hodgdon's lists 58gr. H4831 with a 175 gr. Nosler as max. Hope this helps you. Consider trying some round nosed bullets. I am getting a 7mm (WSM) soon and that's what I may load for woods shooting. Groups of 1.5" are good groups! If the rifle stays sighted in from week to week you really don't need any more accuracy than that.

I think your Sierras are fine for deer & black bear in that weight. Play w/ the seating depth & see if it improves your groups any.

I've got a 26" 7 Mag and use RL 22 with the 175 Speer MAG tip. I am sort of surprized that I never hear anyone talk about these. My brother borrowed my gun and load to shoot some ferral hogs. He shot one at 15 yards and the bullet went all the way through the hog. These bullets are about the same price as the regular Speers.

Ryan, My 7mm rem mag has a 26" tube with 10 1/2 twist. It absolutely loves 140gr and 150gr Sierra SPT's over RL22 with WLRM primers seated .005 off lands. It does okay with the 168gr matchkings(1 MOA) and quiet poor with 175gr'ers(2+ MOA). The 140's with 64.5grs of RL22 and 150's with 63.5grs of RL22 will punch single hole 5 shot groups @ 100yds and .25 MOA @ 200yds and beyond if I do my part. I tried IMR4350, H4350, H4831 and H1000 with less then satisfactory results. Reloader 22 has given my 7 mag the best results for accuracy. We don't have any bear here in East Tx. but the 140gr and 150gr SPT's will drop WT deer and hogs in thier tracks with no problem. Hope this helps, Good luck. *Nut*

Nutoy What type rifle do you have? My Rem. Sendero has a 1 in 9 1/2 twist. That is the usual twist rate for a 7 MM Mag. Probably why your rifle prefers 140-150gr. slugs better.

This group, which measured somewhere around 0.303-inches for 5-shots at 200-yards. It was fired using a Ruger 77R in 7mm Remington Magnum with Leupold 12x optics Case: Remington Primer: CCI-200 Powder: 64.6 grains of RL-22 Bullet: Sierra 168 grain Hollow Point Boat Tail Measured velocity 15' from muzzle: 2,943 fps

Bob, my mistake on the twist. It's a 700BDL with a #6 Shilen 11" twist for 140gr bullets. Hince the poor performance with heavier bullets. Had to try a few groups with em just to see what they would do. I just picked up a Browning A-Bolt Medallion that has a 26"er with a 9 1/2" twist. I'll try the heavier bullets in it and see how it does. Steve, Thats a really nice 200yd group ya have there. Nice shooting!

ok fellas, I loaded my self some 175 grainers with 60gr. of h4831 and tryed them out this weekend. They shot an average of 1" for 3 shots, which was a little better then the ones i loaded with 62.3gr. I am almost out of the sierra bullets, soo i am going to go to the sporting goods store and grab some hornady inter-locks, and give them a try. People say they work a little better on game, so if i can get them to shoot well, i will probobly use them on game. Thanx soo much for ur info Ryan
