I am really hoping there are three full buckets of .45 brass. I hope there ain't a bunch of 9mm or .40Smith or Wolf in it. Story of it is, the brass has been collected from a police or law enforcement body that saves it. The man who has it is responsible for collecting it. I guess the organization has no cares about what happens to it as long as it gets swept off the range. So he is supposed to have three buckets of it. I just hope it's all brass (no steel-cased crap) and all .45ACP. My friend tells me the man with the brass wants to learn how to reload. I have all the stuff, so I can show him how it's done when I get the brass. I asked my friend who told me about this brass yesterday as to when we can go get it. He told me the schedule of the man with it is fluid, and that we'd have to be ready at a moment's notice to go get it-- 150 miles away. Still, as sketchy as it might sound, I am up for it. I have plenty already-- picked up three three-pound coffee cans of it (7,500 maybe?) five years ago for $20-- never done a damned thing with it since. This little boondoggle is my way of maybe helping out some guys looking for brass... |

| You're Number 23, Pa. Frank. Just stand ready to send me your address via PM when I get the brass. I'll send out the boxes with a SASE in it. Cost is $11.15 for the flat-rate box and my stamp. That's it! Keep your eyes on this thread. No known date for when I can go get the stuff, but I want to get it as much as you guys do... |

| OK, mad_jack02 and McKay. You gents are Numbers 25 and 26, respectively. I'm thinking we are gettin' toward the end of what we might get, assuming 1,000 per box. I'll take up to 30 names. After that, I have no way at all to say if anybody beyond 30 will get any. I'm not even sure I can get to the later ones on the list. All we can do is see how many I get and how many boxes I can send out... |

| I just did a little calculating and all I can say is WOW!! The interior of a medium, flat-rate box is 553 cubic inches. If I measured the cases as rectangular solids (.473 x .473 x .888 = .199 cubic inches) and could stack them in perfect rows and columns, those of you who have put in for a box will receive 2900 cases. That's almost three times what I figgered. Now I don't know what to do. If I fill a box as I originally thought, I can only do about eight. That means 20 people get stiffed. Maybe I should measure them out by the pound. Ten pounds is about 900 cases. What should I do? I want to satisfy as many people as possible. Comments appreciated... |

| H.B., I'd be tickled pink to get even 500 cases. Or even less if it made it possible for everyone to get some. I just looked at one of the medium flat rate boxes I have here. They're huge! I could just imagine how many 45 cases it would hold!

| I could live with 500, I'm pretty sure you could use the small flat rate box and get 500 in it. By the way this is a very nice gesture and I appreciate it very much!

| A small flat-rate box is 78 cubic inches. That would fit 392 (about 5 pounds) if I could stack them in as perfect rows and columns. Probably get a few less because of interstitial loss. Would 350-400 be good enough for you gentlemen? Shipping for the small box is $4.95 plus my 44 cents on the SASE. If we get through the first 26 or 27 who have so far put in, maybe we can go around again for anyone who wants more. I am shocked the medium box holds almost 3,000. Never figured that many. Can't stiff all you guys who came on later, so we have to do something to be fair to all. Let me know right here what ya'll think... |

Check is best. I can just mail them to my bank and that's it. Money orders have to be cashed at a bank. Too much hassle... And Thank You, sks, for your kind understanding... |

How does you figger that? A .45ACP case, as a rectangular solid, is .199 cubic inches. A medium flat rate box is 537.6 cubic inches. 538 over .199 is 2701 cases-- more than 2-1/2 times what my original idea was for giving these away. 1000 cases at 88 grains per case would be 12.57 pounds. Ten pounds would be 795 cases. The idea is to maximize the number of cases shipped for the least cost while being able to ship as many boxes to those who requested them. Maybe I can fill a one-pound coffee can and ship that many, but it will be in the $10.70 box plus the 44-cent stamp on my SASE. I don't have a one-pound coffee can. If anybody does, can you calculate its volume and tell us how many cases will theoretically fit into it? I want to ship between 500 and 1,000 cases. 1,000 cases would require a box of a minimum of 200 cubic inches and a bit more for interstitial volume considerations. We need to avoid having to pay for the box, so buying boxes to meet a certain number of cases sent is out of the question unless you gentleman do not mind paying two or three bucks for a lousy box. I think that's too much. So, whomever has a one-pound steel coffee can, please cipher its volume and let me know how many would fit in one. One .45ACP case is .199 cubic inches if it were a rectangular solid. Thanks... |

OK, gentlemen, we are really getting up in numbers, now. If I even do get 20,000 (a W-A guess, to be sure), at 29 guys we're talking less than 700 per request. Should I lock it out at 30 requests? I need some comments, here... |
