Powder charge for hollow point bullets as I do for FMJ bullets? The reason I ask is I have a nice load for my 9mm handguns and all I've been loading is 115 gr. FMJ bullets for practice. I'd like to start loading some 115 gr. hollowpoints and was wondering if I can still dump the same amount of powder or does the bullet construction make a difference?

As long as they are still within reasonable book range, I do. To me, jacketed is jacketed, except for seating depth, in my 9mm. Since I don't load to max for mine, it is fine. Larry "Peace is that brief glorious moment in history, when everybody stands around reloading" -- Thomas Jefferson

Yes. I interchange bullets without regard to maker or shape, but not with solid copper ones; use the bullet maker's data for those.

That's what I figured, but while I've been reloading for a while, I just wasn't positive. Thanks!

OK, provided it is of the same weight ; COAL should be checked, though as it may vary with ogive shape.. André DRSS --------- 3 shots do not make a group, they show a point of aim or impact. 5 shots are a group.

When I work up to what I consider a "maximum load" I try to emulate what I consider reasonable factory loads. But once in a while I will push the envelope a bit, for instance with my 257 AI, I can drive it pretty hard. In such a case as that I would not reproduce the same load with a different bullet, but rather start low and work up again. Otherwise it is fine in most cases. Monolithics and FMJ bullets are an exception IMO as they can typicaly produce a bit more pressure than a cup and core slug and should also be worked up.
