1in10338-06 help
Is 338-06 the same as a 338-06 A Square? The loading manuals I am looking at are not quite clear. I am looking to buy a TC Encore chambered for 338-06 and im not what dies to buy to get the job done. The Woman I spoke to at the TC custom shop stated that "the 338-06 they use is just a regular 338-06". The more research I did the more confused I got as there seems to be many variations. Just looking for some guidance as what to buy.

ramrod340Yes. A Square is simply the one that took it from wildcat to std.

Woodrow SThe 338-06 and the 338-06 A-Square version are the same. The reason for the A-Square is because that company legitimized the cartridge as Remington and Winchester have done in the past with many other "wildcat" cartridges.

NakihunterI would go for a 9.3X62 - it gives me the flexibility of using 230 to 320 grain projectiles and the case is actually an "improved" design.

1in10Thanks guys!! A lot of the data on this round was not straight forward in the manuals that I was refrencing. Nosler, Hornady, and Sierra all give differant dimensions as to where the shoulder starts which was confusing the hell out me.
Any loads you would recomend? I was looking for a deer load and also a more heavy duty one for Moose.

ramrod340Nothing at all wrong with the 338-06. For deer I use 200Accubonds. With Rl15 or a compressed load of RL19 behind it.
