Midway has these on sale. Will the older style 3 hole turrets work on the classic cast turret press? Thanks, Bob

Is the shell plate set up for three or four stations?

NO. The indexer is set up for 4 hole turrets, so is the steel ring that the turret turns inside. The 3 hole turret wouldn't even fit in the top.

But the main question is WHY? As in why would anyone WANT a 3 hole turret?

Why? They are on sale at midway. Most of my dies are 2 dies sets. Hard to make dies fit on the 4 holer with original lock rings (Hornady, RCBS). I don't use auto index, so not an issue. Bob

Why? I use my Lee for relatively small (50-100) runs of rifle ammunition but I resize, clean and prime separately.

1 spot for powder die, 1 for seating and 1 for crimping. leaves a blank space which is surprisingly annoying and rhythm upsetting.

I've always wondered how to set up a three hole turret for this press.

Then the solution is real easy, get the original 3 hole press!

midway 3 hole

The empty hole in my classic turret doesn't bother me, I just either double pump the ram or with the ram at half staff, grab the turret to advance it the the sizer die. But most of my loading with it is with lee 4 die sets, which is why they went with 4 holes.

Send a email or call lee to ask if the 3 holer steel ring will match the posts of the 4 hole press, then the 3 holer's would work. You'd be stuck with manual advance. Somebody there would have to special order the stuff to convert your press.
