Bought some 130 grain barnes tripple shocks for my custom .270. This rifle has never really liked 130 grain bullets. I loaded 5 with 60 grains of RL-22. at about .050 off the lands. Have not shot them yet, waiting for my rimrock stock to get here, Anybody try this bullet ? If yes what did you learn ? I have had great luck with the 100 grain tsx from my .257 roberts.

I have not shot the 130 grs TSX, but I did shoot the 140 grs TSX in my .270 Win. Worked very well. No sign of extra pressure from an "X-type" bullet. Accuracy easily good enough to go hunting. I have some 130 grs TSX at home, when I get time, I'll try those as well.

I load 61gr RL22 under a 130TSX. I get 3180fps and 1 1/2" groups, which is about as good as this rifle has shot anything.
High velocity and decent accuracy. Whats not to like?

I've shot the TSX in 270 extensively, both 130 grain and 140 grain. I stairstepped up to Max in my rifle .5 grain at a time and got up to 3330 FPS with the 130 with 58.5 grains of IMR 4350 and 3160 FPS with the 140 with 59.5 grains of IMR 4831. The most accurate group of .25" came at 3057 FPS in the 130 grain with 57 grains of IMR4350.

I usually use RL22 for cases with more capacity such as the 300 Win. The 270 case gets full at around 60 grains and you will be able to squeeze out more velocity from the faster 4350 and 4831.

If you have trouble seating the 130 close to the lands because of magazine depth, the 140 will seat out further and still be shorter COAL (oddly enough).

I agree with mho and prefer the 140 because of the higher sectional density.

After extensive shooting in 5 different calibers and with at least a dozen different bullets, I will say that the TSX are, by far, the best bullet out there. They are more accurate than the SMK and better terminal performance than the Accubonds, IMHO.

Working up loads with the TSX's is boring. Run to max velocity, twiddle a little with seating depth (if you are so inclined), and voila, high speed, decent accuracy load. With my 270 and RL22, I didn't even mess with seating depth. 1" groups at full power. Like I said. Boring. Wink Dutch.

What Dutch said. I have had good luck with the TSX in all weights in both 270 & 30 cal. I will say that it is bullshit about them not fouling very much though, no worse, but no better than other bullets with a copper jacket. Good terminal performance on whitetail and coyotes for sure, but the accubond has done super for me also.

Thanks for the replys, I am choosing the 130s because the Leupold VX3 2.5 X 8, I put on it is set up for a 130 grain .270 with a muzle velocity of 3052. My custom model 70 featherweight has a 22 inch barrel so it should be great for this purpose ...tj3006

My 270s have come alive with Reloader 22 and I 7828 and the 130 TSX. Have been very pleased with the velocities, w/ Reloader 22 I'm pushing 3200 and the primers w/o any pressure signs. Terminal performance has been excellent on deer.
