resizing surplus bullets
do any of you resize pulled military bullets?

i can accross a can of pulled 223 bullets that have collact marks. some of the bullets are somewhat ovaled.

can they be trued by running them thru a sizer die?

i am not intending for them to be very accurate, but more for blasting and stress relief.

thanks for your comments in advance,

Yes you can run them through a "sizing" die. I think the makers of bullet forming dies would be a good starting point.

You can get a cheap steel sizing die from Lee & use Imperial sizing wax & punch them through.

I've got one of the lee dies for my 8x56r. I use it to run .338 hornady bullets through and size down to .329 for my 8x56r. It takes a bit of effort but think how much I'm squeazing them down. I think doing what you want to do should be a piece of cake. If for some reason you don't like the die you can put it on e-bay and get most your money back.

kraky, if you shoot that 8mm enough, Lee can make you an intermediate die, like 0.333". It would make the job a bit easier for $25. thumb I did this for plinking bullets in my .404j. I size 300gr 44mags to .427 then .423. They are surprisingly accurate out to 100yds.

My barrel seems to get them pulled bullets back to round pretty quickly Wink

Thanks Fred--the gun shoots pretty crappy...at least compared to my mil surp swiss k31. I don't shoot it much. AND , now to top it off Graffs actually got hornady to make the correct diameter bullet. I'm not sure if I'll ever play with that gun anymore...just a space taker in the safe....but we all have those don't we!

Hornady does make the correct sized boolits for th 8x56r. I bought a pile of them from Grafs. I am sure there are plenty left. Have a look.

Iv shot some of my unsized, pulled M2s. Im wondering how much this could cuase pressure to go up and how much more copper fouling it could cause as well? They are up to .311" in some of the high spots. Its not like they are .311" all the way around, just in high spots.
