I read an article that compared the 338 federal to the 358 Winchester, and I believe that the best load for the 358 was with TAC. Does anyone have that article or can tell me the the details of the load?

There is an article in Handloader #254, August 2008 titled .338 Federal and.358 Winchester, Peas in a Pod?, John Barsness that you are referring to...I have it, PM me if you want the data. See also this link for a summary of the best loads with the 358: Barsness Favorite Loads

I've been experimenting with W748 and AA 2520 with 200 grain bullets but can't say yet which is the more accurate powder with Hornady 200 RN bullets in my Browning A bolt...will finish testing this week.

Good luck,

Paul

I found what I wanted in Favorite Loads. I think that magazine is at the cabin. Anyway thanks a lot. I have owned three 358's but only have one now that is new to me. I bought a hawkeye that has been cut to a 20 inch barrel and target crowned. Have a lot of brass, but cannot find any loaded ammo yet, so I will need to make up a batch. Anyway thanks again.

Mike

Midway has the newly released Hornady 358 ammo in stock at $28 a box. Decent price and you get some great brass to reload. I have it on order but have not yet tried it. Good luck, the 358 is much under appreciated.

Paul, Thanks so much. I just ordered 4 boxes. I have about half a box of the winchester silvertip. I saw the Hornady 358 at Cheaper than Dirt, but it was out of stock and they said no backorder.
Anyway that will get me going, as I am going to wring out this Ruger. Somebody talke me out of the other 2 rifles. Nobody will get this one, as 358's are getting harder and harder to find.
