Greetings I have a Remington 700 ADL, 24" barrel and 9-1/8 twist I believe. I have shot Nosler Partitions in my other rifles with good sucess and would like to work up a load for the .243 using Nolser 85gr, 95gr and or 100g partitions. This is a basically stock hunting rifle for Mule Deer. Would anyone be willing to share their experiences with this combo, Remington and Nosler Partitions and what powders? I have shot other Bullets with varying success but would really like to get the Noslers dialed in. Looking forward to any and all suggestions, Thank you MB ..."its not a collection if you only have one"....

My go-to load with 100 gr. partitions is 33 gr. IMR 3031, not a max load in anything I've shot it in but work up. I've also had good results with a stiff load of 4350 - check the manuals for that charge. To me the .243 and the 100 gr. Partition seem to be made for each other. Good luck.

I run 4064, or H 414 is I need max velocity... many powders work well in a 243, so there is no real wrong answer... also tried Rl 17, which can lead to some high velocity and good accuracy potential.. or a stiff load of IMR 7828....

With 95s I use 44gr of H-4831 and with 100s I use 36.5gr of Varget at 2.715" OAL in my Remington 700. Free men should not be subjected to permits, paperwork and taxation in order to carry any firearm. NRA Benefactor

mrbofus, in looking over the previous post I believe that at one time or another I have used all of the mentioned powders with at least one or more of the three weights you mentioned. With the 85's I usually went with IMR-3031 as that was what the rifle liked with the Nosler Solid Base I was shooting. I used it for deer for quite a few years until they decided to stop producing it. It was easily able to group 3/8" or so at 100yds time and time again. I never used the Partition in this weight so I cannot say how it would differ or not. The 95gr bullets I tried the standard IMR-3031, with dismal results. It simply did not like any of the weights I tried with any of the bullets I tried. I finally hit an accurate load using H-4350. As such I tried other 4350's but the magic was in the Hodgdon. Again the rifle went back to the previous sized groups with three different bullets, all using the same exact charge. I shot the Ballistic Tip, Partition, and the Barnes X, while using this load to drop plenty of whitetails. Long came grandson #1, and a used Sako. When I got it, I had all intentions of simply using it for a donor action. The thing was a real mess. After a full weekend of scrubbing the barrel, I took it to the range with a box of Win 100gr factory ammo just to see if the thing functioned properly. After bore sighting it with four shots, I shot a 5 shot group which left me a believer. Since then I have worked up a couple of different loads with it, using both the H-4350, and the Hybrid 100V. I have used both the Remington and the Nosler Solid base in 100gr and found equal accuracy from both. All this said, I believe that if you picked some loads out with powders ranging from IMR-3031 through RL-22, and work up loads which run in the 2800 - 2900fps range with the 100gr, and up to around 3150 max with the other two weights, you will find something which will do all you ask of it. I used Speer 105 grain slugs, 39.5 grains of IMR 4350, somebodies mag primers. When I used the 243 for hunting I mostly used the round nose version, because it was the most accurate, Jim "Whensoever the General Government assumes undelegated powers, its acts are unauthoritative, void, and of no force." --Thomas Jefferson

Mr Bofus You haven't give any indication what powders you have access to. Some places do NOT have all powders readily availible and that is awkward to say the least. with the 85 -100 gr bullets I would suggest you want a slower powder. Something in the IMR 4350, IMR 4831 or RL19 range. With the 100 gr bullets even slower powders like AA3100, H4831 and 7828 do very well. Hope that helps.

I used these same 2 loads in 2 different 243's the wife and I had, one a Ruger No1 and the other a Remingron Mod 7. These loads shot very accurate in both rifles, my wife killed deer and antelope past 300 yards with them. The bullets either a 100gr Sierra Spz or the 95gr Nosler Partition. The powder IMR 4350. In Texas we used 40 grains of IMR 4350. In Colorado or Wyoming the wife used 42gr of IMR 4350. DOUBLE RIFLE SHOOTERS SOCIETY

Thanks for the input. Yes i asked a specific question because I am looking for specific responses related to the Nosler Partition bullets. I have acces at about any and all powders, So far my best results have been with IMR 7828 IMR 4831 was ok but others were better. I have IMR 4350 and H4350 to try next. I like the Toughness of the Nosler bullet but have also used Sierra SPBT and Hornaday spire pt in 100 grains using 43.5 g of imr7828 gave me good results also. I am just tweeking to find that "sweet" spot. MB ..."its not a collection if you only have one"....

With 100 gr bullets, work up to max loads with 4831. Hodgden and IMR both work well.

I just worked up a load with IMR7828 and 95 gr. partitions. 45.5 gr. fed 210 primers, Rem cases in a 22" barrel for a 5 shot 1.25" group at 2880 FPS. This is a nosler book max.

I developed a load using 100gr gameking over 39.5grs of IMR4350 capped with a CCI200. It'll shoot around an inch. 1 shot 1 thrill
