I just got out a die I hadn't used for some time and it has a bit of rust. How does everyone else clean and store dies. Thanks

When you get finished using your dies, disassemble your dies, wipe them down inside and out, and put a light coat of breakfree on them and wipe it off. Put some steelwool on a borebrush and spin it around in the die with a drill. This should clean it up pretty well. Clean as above and lube. Ku-dude

Be sure to use a VERY fine steel wool (the finer the better UNLESS the rust is very heavy in which case maybe you should chuck the dies?) to clean off rust; a little oil when cleaning will help too. As far as storage goes, depends on conditions where you store them. Like guns, always clean and lubricate (or clean and store with dessicant); store in DRY conditions and/or seal them away from atmosphere in zip-loc bags or sealed containers.

BB, I have used ultrasonic cleaning with very good results. * 3 qt tank Dies come out wholly clean, only the pitted corrosion pits themselves remain. * Next full acetone bath; good to go! ------------------ Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch.
