Just received my GS FN bullets and am ready to start loading. Looking for any tips or starting points to try. These are 270gr for 375H&H and 450gr for 458WM. They suggested S335 powder but I am not familiar with South African powders. Can anyone tell me the equivalent with our powders in the US? Will ball powders work OK or should I stay with stick powders. I would like to gear these towards hunting loads for buffalo. It doesn't appear that the load information for FN bullets is up and running on the GS website.
Thanks
Ralph

Gerard,

Do you know of a powder burn rate chart that includes the SOMCHEM powders available in RSA?

The charts I know of in Norht America have American and some European powders.

Anybody else?...jim dodd

Ralph,
My mishap (stepped off a porch in the dark) put a bigger crimp on my activiteis than I thought it would but I am completing the 416 load data later this evening and will post it on the load data section of my site as soon as I am done. Access it from the Usefull Stuff page or from the HV Bullets page.

Jim,
I have been working on a burn rate chart on and off for a while. It is not complete and no doubt contains errors, but I have put it up on my website for comment. Any input you guys want to give, will be incorporated in the chart to make it as complete and useful as possible. The Somchem powders are included and fairly accurately placed in their relative positions. The chart is at http://www.gsgroup.co.za/burnrate.html or can be accessed from the Useful Stuff page.
