After purchasing a couple packs of .35 caliber Sierra round nose 200 grain bullets to load for my .356 i see that the balistic coefficients are garbage. Pushing the 200 grainer at 2400fps will yield me only around 900 ftlbs at 200 yards. Any data i have seen using other round nose or flat nosed bullets, the .356 should be good for 1200-1500ftbs of energy at 200 yards. Me thinks i need some other bullets.

Me thinks you need a bolt action that shoots pointy bullets. If you're into believing BC data, some of the BTSP's get there going faster than they left! What are you shooting at 200 yards with a 356? Jason

I am in elk and moose country. It looks like the Speer line is the way to go. ..............the .356 is much more than a 100 yard caliber. Why handicap myself with the Sierra??

220 speer fp at 2350 with 49.5 gr of 748. The 180 and 220 speer have the best bc of any flat point/round nosed 358.

Exactly POP. Thats what the .356 is all about. That load would yield a fella around 1600ftlbs at 200 yards. ..........using the Sierra bullet a fella might as well shoot the much more anemic .35 Remington.

Thats pretty pathetic my muzzleloader shooting a 200 grn shockwave @ 2225 FPS will out perform that. I think I carry at least 900 past 300yds in times when one needs a rifle, he tends to need it very badly.....PHC

According to Sierra Infinity Suite Five you get 940 Ftlbs at 300 yards If a day goes by when you don't learn something - it was a Total Loss!

OldGuy, i don't understand how that is possible with BC stats like this right off there website: 358 dia. 200 gr. RN .148 @ 2000 fps and above .203 between 2000 and 1500 fps .247 between 1500 and 1200 fps .271 between 1200 and 1000 fps .230 @ 1000 fps and below

Leverboy Talk to Sierra - it's their software and bullet. I only relayed what you would get when you boost the speed to 2400 like you started this rant with. There won't be enough difference to worry about regardless of whose 200 gr .358 bullet you choose. If a day goes by when you don't learn something - it was a Total Loss!
