Has anyone ever seen/heard of a 2-bore exploding bullet from the 1800's?
Looking for info./pics.& what would be the collector value of these"blast from the past stopping rounds"?
Read a article in 2010 gun digest that a cape buffalo was exploded with one from 300 yards away!
Holland and Holland loaded them for "Baby"?
The bullet was built in 2 pieces and they had to use wooden spoons and bowls with the explosive mixture that was placed in the middle, while reloading the mixture could never touch metal.
Bone would have to be hit to set it off!LOLOLOLOL..SWWEEETTT rotflmo
I did find this pdf.link below, scroll down to the lower end of it for exploding bullets.
Interesting stuff for sure rotflmo

That's an interesting link. I saw somewhere (Gunsmith Kinks?) that exploding bullets actually had .22 RF black powder shorts inserted in conical projectiles. I read somewhere else that they exploded on the shoulder of elephants, doing little more than pissing them off, seemed to explain why Selous or someone of that period gave up on there use on DG. Make for some good magic for the locals around 1900 though.

What movie did someone place drops of cyanide into their hollowpoints and seal them with wax?

Never heard the 300 yard buffalo story, but would love to hear the specifics.

Exploding bullets are not hard to make I have made them for pistol rounds shot some varmints with them.

One might be able to put enough powder in a 2bore to get some real effect but in the smaller rounds they act like super expanding hollow points.

Read WW Greener's book; he talks about exploding bullets in it. Used for whales and other big game. Also he talks about poison bullets.

I first started reloading in the mid 60s. An old dude I knew had a trap door Springfield he made exploding cast bullets for killing sharks that harassed fisherman's catches at the mouth of the St. Johns River off Jacksonville, FL, with. He had a simple process and it worked well but I ain't going to say how it was done.

One boater out there determined it would be fun to wire a half stick of dynamite to a slit fish, light the fuse and toss that to the visiting sharks. It was great fun for surrounding boats to watch the "depth charge" eruptions...until one shark swam under the boat to swallow his catch. Everyone on board was picked up but the boat was never seen again.

Yeah, they frown on that these days; good way to get real chummy with Homeland Security.
