I think I'd stick with faster propellents with non-jacketed bullets.

H110 is IMO a propellant that is intended for maximum level loads with jacketed bullets.

H110 is really a max. effort powder. I've shot pounds of it under 240-250gr lead bullets. The lightest I would load is 21gr, if you want lighter loads drop to Al2400.

I have been shooting the .44 since 1956. When 296 and H110 came out I switched and would never think of another powder for any bullet, cast or jacketed. You must try both powders to see what is most accurate. The Rugers love 296 except the standard Redhawk. It loves H110. There is a slight burn rate difference even though they are essentually the same powder. I use 23.5 to 24 gr's with 240 jacketed and cast. 20.5 for the 300 XTP and 21.5 for the 320 and 330 gr cast LBT styles. Accuracy is from 1/2" to 1" at 50 yd's depending on how I am shooting. I have had 3/4" groups at 75 yd's and approached 1" at 100 yd's. All with heavy cast boolits.

for 240 grain bulletts-- hodgdon 110 is 22.0-24.0 grains. 296 is 21.5 to 23.8. no reduction in powder charges are recomended. i use 8.5 grains of unique with lance cast bulletts for an easy plinking load.
23.5 grains of 110, 24.5 of 296 and 20.8 grains of aa#9 are very accurat loads for me
