I don't have a chrono, but in terms of accuracy my best .303 load is with the Sierra 150gr. and H414. I have also used the Sierra and Remington 180 grainers, and IMR4064 and H335. I am surprized that the 150s have been the best so far because of the long throat, but that's the way it has worked.

Gentlemen, Thanks for the replies. I enjoy shooting my .303, as it is a nice change from the magnums or the big-bores. The velocities are not flashy, but the bullet performance is excellent, and the deer are always dead, with a minimum of meat damage. Joel Slate

While you guys are here, what bullets have performed the best for you in the .303?? I want to stick with 180 grain loads, for everything. I realize that the lower velocity will allow many bullet to perform well, but have you got any favourites in 180 Grain? I don't reload, and so am stuck with Power-points and Rem CL RN (both of which, I understand are very good bullets). Any experience with either of these??

Johnny Ringo, The W-W powerpoints have worked very well for me on deer and elk. They feed a little better in my rifle with the spitzer shape than the round nose core-lokt do. I also really like the Hornady 150 gr. spire point and the 174 gr. Interlock. Joel Slate

I have gotten excellent results from both Sierra and Nosler Partiton 200 grain .308" s in several .303's, but I think it would depend on the groove diameter of the .303 barrels, which can go as large as .314"-.315". If no more than .311" to .312", a .308" bullet is OK.

No 4 251/4" Savage 2 groove, GB 1944 with cordite did avg 2418fps, Some FN 50 did about the same avg but with less variation. 22" No 4 sporter did 2206 with factory PMP and 2214 with 180GR Sierra SP. MR
