I will be running a Dillon 550 or 650.

Is there a thread with the basic / Nice to Have list of items needed to start reloading? I have the Books (ABC, Handloaders Digest, Sierra manual Volume 5) And some others. I have been reading. But not sure on exactly the right tools / equipment for the Dillon Presses.

Lube, Carbide Dies, Tools, trimmers, Digital v.s. Non-Digital Scales... etc.

So the day I get the press, I can start reloading.

I am sorry if this is a 1,000 post for this kind of info.. but I cant find it on any forum I go to.

Alot of "This is the Best" or "You dont need it now... just get a press"

IF there is a NO B.S. List.. I will owe someone a nice 6 pack of thier favorite beverage!!!

Thanx Guys!!!

I'd suggest that you not start with a progressive press like I did. Sooner or later you will wind up with a single stage press for those odd jobs, and I'm of the opinion that it be sooner, rather than later -and in the form of a "kit" from either RCBS or Redding. These kits give you everything needed to start with; the rest you'll develop on your own as needs dictate.

As for the progressive presses, they require nothing special in the way of tools, only patients, skill, and attention to detail -especially with pistol calibres that are easily double charged. Dillon sells a nifty wrench for adgusting things on the press, but it isn't necessary, just convenient.

With that said, I'd buy a kit. I was lucky in that I had reloaded shotgun, pistol, and rifle cartridges with friends before I purchased any equipment. If you are in such a position, buy both the kit and 550B if you have the room and are well heeled, or the single stage kit only if not.

Thanx Buckshot! I appreciate it.

I already have a Single Press coming from my brother, and just looking for a list somewhere for a progressive.

No worries guys.

Thank you.

I agree with the first press being a single stahe press.....that said the most valuable thing I bought with my Dillon presses was a video tape on how to assemble and operate.....
