I bought some .338 blems, they are 200 grain red poly tip, boat tail, spitzers. I've been discouraged from buying any new manuals in the last 5 years due to their increasing lack of content. Could anyone please help me out for use in a .338 WM with IMR 4350, IMR4831, IMR4064 or Winchester 760? Thank you in advance.

76 grains of IMR4831 should yield at least 2850 fps from a 24" barrel. Have used this recipe exclusively for my .338's since 1979 using a 200 grain bullet (Bitterroot).

I always used H414 (760) with 200s in my 338Wmag (2 grs above nosler" max)

4064 would be another choice.

I'm assuming they are 200 SST seconds. If so latest Hornady manual shows;

IMR 4350- start 61.1/2500 max 72.4/3000
IMR 4831- start 61.1/2500 max 73.3/3000
IMR 4064- start 52.8/2500 max 63.1/2900

They don't list Win 760. I just picked up some 200 grain interlock blems for my 350 rem mag.

Thanks a bunch guys. The Nest had IMR 4831 at 70-75 grs max, and IMR 4350 at 69-73grs. Some how it just seemed a tad high. I knew I would get better data here.

Scott, Are they with the red poly tip? Do you think the ones I have are Hornady's?

I would bet a on it. Every blem I've purchased from Midway has be Hornady.

Lucky for me 76 grains of IMR4831 has never shown any signs of pressure in my Finnbear or the Kimber.

Like you I have a number of loads above book a couple SEVERAL grains above that show no signs in my rifle. I have a couple others that decided to let primer go at some old book max. Just wanted to let him know that charge could be hot. Not everyone starts low and works up.
