Everyone seems to overlook the easiest source of "load down" information, starting loads from the manuals! There is a significant difference in recoil between starting loads and max. and you don't need to buy new powders.

If you want to load down the 375 H&H I highly recommend AAs XMP 5744 powder. It is unlike ANY other powder out there. Here are a couple of loads from AA's 2002 Manual for xmp 5744 in the 375 H&H: Sierra 200 gr Flat Nose: 40 grs = 2058 fps, and 60 grs = 2902 fps Hornady 270 SP: 43 grs = 2077 fps, and 54 grs = 2489 fps Sierra 300 SBT: 46.0 = 2021 fps, and 51 grs = 2217 fps These are all very good loads, with fine accuracy. My favorite, however, is the max 270 grain load at 2489 fps. Recoil is like a 30-06 out of a 7 lb sporter but the authority is right there with the 338 Win Mag.

Hey Cq. Check out Loading Big Game Bullets for Deer - Effective Techniques for Versatility. by Ken Waters in (Handloader #203, Feb-March 2000). It's still available from Wolfe Publishing http://www.riflemagazine.com/magazine/index.cfm?magid=20 The basis for his article was a request from a correspondent about using reduced loads in the 375 H&H, and, he lists a variety of tested loads that should work well for you. If memory serves, he also has some for the 9.3x62 ('course the ol' memory's a little foggy anymore ), so you can find data for whichever grand old round you want. Never did anything like you propose with the 375, but, I have done a few with the 416RMag, using 5744, as recommended by another poster, as well as IMR and H4895, IMR and Accurate 4064, IMR 4320 and RL15. Much lower recoil than full-house, and super accuracy. R-WEST
