For those that may be interested, Winchester's new XP3 bullet. Looks impressive. Available at retailers in Spring 2006. http://www.winchester.com/products/newitems/XP3product.aspx ...read dozens of books about heros and crooks, and I learned much from both of their styles. (J.B.)

Another "better mousetrap"... Not really needed, but there will be those who will spend the $$$, and that is all they are worried about.

I agree. XP3 is more bullet than necessary for all but the very biggest and most dangerous big game (grizz) animals in North American. This bullet is likely better suited to hunting the "big five" in Africa, and the like.

I personally think it is great, that the ammo companies are as innovative as they are. In the last couple of years, we have been blessed with any number of great new bullets. I think the XP3 might well fall into this category. The use of the plastic tip, might help expansion on light game. Often the mono-metal (or semi-mono-metal, in the case of FailSafe ) bullets are accused of not expanding properly. Surely, the plastic tip should help in this respect. The use of bonded core technology is a natural. The XP3 really becomes sort of a cross between the X and the Swift A-Frame. Now for the bad news: I personally won't shoot bullets with Lubalox, and wonder why they insist on using these coatings?? Also, given that this bullet is apparently made by Winchester (?), will it become available for reloading, or only in factory ammo?? - mike ********************* The rifle is a noble weapon...
