Have anyone tried Nosler Protected Point? How good is the PP compared to the usual Nosler Partition? Will the PP have more retained weight and bigger expanded diameter? Will this PP bullet expand better in a 30-06/308win rifle than for example Swift,Fail Safe or Partition Gold?

I don't have all the comparison data you asked for, but the Nosler 180 PP at 2875 from my 30-06 performed superbly on Kudu, Impala and Springbok. No bullets were recovered, so I can't say what they weighed, but they worked just fine. The load was 62/RL22, which showed no overpressure signs in my Ruger 77 rifle.

I've shot them and they performed just like other Partitions. All the protected point does is keep them from getting battered in the magazine as far as I can tell.

I have shot and cut both in half, and there is no difference in accuracy or jacket thickenss between the two. JBD is right also on the nose battering in the magazine and either will expand great in your 30/06.

I believe that Nosler came out with the .30cal protected point for all you .300 Win Mag fans so that you wouldn't have to seat the bullet quite so far into the powder space.
