Master Chrony Err1

clerkofkirkMaster Chrony Err1
I just unpacked my new new Master Chrony, put a new battery in it and turned it on. I get a flashing Err 1 all the time. I haven't even shot through it. I tried turning it off but when I turn it on I still get the Err 1. What's up?
Here's the manual.
http://www.shootingchrony.com/manual_ASC&AMC.htm#TSMake sure that you're using an Alkaline battery.

clerkofkirkI am using a fresh alkaline battery. The manual does not give any useful information about Err 1 when you haven't even shot through the screens yet. I did figure out that the Err 1 only comes up when you set the remote down on the shooting bench or on the ground. If you hold it in your hand it seems to work for a while then goes Err 1. The second you set the remote down it goes Err 1. Sounds like a short in the remote unit to me. Weird! Anybody ever sent one in? How long of a turnover time can I expect?

Allan DeGrootfailure to function right out of the box? I'd take it back to where I bought it.

greatnorthI think you'll find that once you shoot across the chrony that screen will go away and numbers (fps) will come up. Every once and a while that screen will come up if it does not register the shot. At least that's the way my Chrony has worked. Greg

jeffeossoerr1 means it saw something over the rear sensor, but not the front.
do you have your skyscreens on? if not, do so. you should default to putting these on.
to clear that err1, do the following
quote:
Deleting Single Shot:
Press and release the FU button repeatedly until the desired shot number is displayed (NOT the velocity). Press and hold the FU button until display flashes. Release immediately when it flashes.
heh.. yeah the manual sucks... it looses something in translation from candi'an to english!! (shesh, the kanunkian's are going to get me for that one)

You know, all we really need in life is a big FU button.

jstevensMine gives the same error reading if I shoot too high over it and it doesn't pick up the shot. Seems to be worse on a bright day.
