I know this has been asked and answered before (H322 powder is too fast to fill the case properly, etc...etc...) but one thing perplexes me...for a 52 grain bullet the Hodgdon reloading manual says the maximum load is 31 grains at 48000 CUP which doesn't fill the case the way H4895 at a maximum load of 35.5 grains at 49,600 CPU does. My question is why is the max load pressure of H322 so low compared to H4895. It seems to be the max H322 load could be increased by at least a couple of grains without exceeding the 49,600 CPU max load pressure that H4895 achieves.

The pressure curve with any given powder is not necessarily linear. Very little more powder can result in huge pressure increases. Just stick with H380 or Re15, and shoot happily forever!

Ya know, H 322 is one of my "Go To" powders for the 22.250. Sure other powders can beat it in velocity... But I use a charge of an even 30 grains, and with any bullet weight from 45 to 60 grains, it is just plain accurate as hell... I use other powders when I want more velocity.. like 3031 with a 50 grain bullet and RL 7 with a 40 grain bullet... but for accuracy... 30 grains of H 322, or RL 7 see a lot of use in my 22.250s..more than capable for 350 to 400 yd varminting, and up closer to boot..and barrels don't require a lot of cleaning..even with high volumes of shooting..
