I wouldn't have a "dial a buck" (boss) on any rifle at any time at any price.....unless I got it cheap enough to rebarrel it and be money ahead.
It's just a personal preference thing to me.....they ruin the rifle's appearance.

I would keep your Rem 700 I shoot both Rem and Browning. If it has one of those new euro stocks on it with the boss It is ugly.Put your mgnaport on and it will kick about like the 06'
but shoot about 300 fps faster.

another vote for keeping the rem700. If you need shoulder releif,..put a break on it.

Hey Len, Back when the BOSS first came out a friend of mine got one on a M70. He likes to randomly pick a Load from a Manual rather than develop one, so the BOSS has worked well for him. He was able to load up a bunch of "his Load" and go adjust the BOSS until the rifle liked it.

It (and most muzzle brakes) was extremely loud. Within a few months, Winchester made one available without the holes in it and he has used it ever since. It no longer brakes the recoil, but it is much easier to shoot due to a reduced report.

No doubt the Brownings are finished nicely - if you are into Jap guns. I'm not, so they just don't interest me.

As for the 300RUM, I've yet to see an inaccurate one. Rather than hose it up with a loud brake, you could always just "load it down" a bit at first. Then as you accustom yourself to that recoil and realize it really isn't hurting you, you can increase the loads. A young friend of mine is doing that with a 338WinMag and is real happy that he has it now.

But, you really have to decide for yourself which will work the best for you.

A friend has the 7 mag with the boss,I have one in 300wsm,in the browning stalker ss.Out of the box set at the number stated for the bullet used they are really tack drivers.I have a browning in 270wsm without the boss and it is the same tack driver(small tacks)less than an inch @300 yds.But I don't care that much for the 300wsm because of the boss,it is louder than what regular brakes I have shot, made a mistake one day and shot it without ear plugs and my ears rang and had a headace for half the day.
Another friend has the 300 rum in the remington elk foundation rifle,it is very light and he has a reg brake on it.He finally talked me into shooting it one day at the range,I was shooting a rem 260.I thought it would knock me off the shooting bench but to my surprise it didn't kick any more than the 260 and was it accurate. He had a one inch dot @300 and 400 yds told me how to hold and I clipped the edge of the dot at both yardages,he sit a rock about the size of baseball @400 yds and I watched it explode through the scope so that should tell you how much kick there was.And he has them loaded up hot over 100 grains of powder with 150 grain bullet.
Believe I would keep the rem and add a brake to it.Around here you can have a brake installed for $125.

The Browning is a fine rifle. You must like a high gloss finish. I do mostly paper and varmint hunting so this is no problem for me.
The Remington has more aftermarket items available.

I am one gun away from being happy

A browning for a remington??? ARE U NUTS??? He better have about 5 or 6 brownings to give you. You already have in your possession the best there is in bolt guns. Why step down to a browning?

If it dont fit...force it. If ya cant force it...get a bigger hammer. If it breaks...it probably needed replacing anyway.
