Does anyone know of a tool that will pull truncated cone bullets? My son has been loading 230gr .45ACP full jacketed bullets and some of them are not taper crimped with enough strength to keep them from "setback". When he tries to pull them with a kinetic puller the collets come off the "O" ring binder and are very difficult to get back in place. In conclusion it is very frustrating to pull them. Any help would be appreciated.

Happy Shooting

I use a no 2 shell holder in my kinetic puller works very well on the 45acp I have had to take apart.

if there is a little bit of straight side showing i believe you could might get away using the bonanza (forester) puller. they work well and are pretty cheap

If the problem is insufficient crimp, then reset the die and run them through again to increase the crimp to a sufficient amount. No need to pull them if the bullet is still sitting in the right place. Besides, bullet seating and crimping should always be done in two separate operations.

If the problem is rounds that have already suffered setback, then chamber them by single-loading and fire them.

Not a good idea depending on the amount of set back and the load. Reducing the COL can cause pressures to spike in straight walled cartridges.
The shellholder you used to load the cartridges, as someone already posted, should replace the collet in your impact puller and allow you to pull the bullets. All you need to move them is enough to reposition them at the correct COL and give them a new crimp. The ones that haven`t set back can be crimped again as is.
