guys ive just had a new rifle, its the model seven remington in .243.
all the load data i can find is developed in a 22" barrel, could anyone tell me were i could find some load data for a 20" barrel .243.

if i use the load data for the 22" barrel what would the out come be? would it just be a loss of velocity?

any one had one of these rifles and got some
load data to share with me i would be landed!
many thanks

The load that is safe in a 22" barrel is also safe in a 20" barrel. Maximum load does not depend on barrel length.

For my 243, I use 100 grain Grand Slams and 41 grains of H4350. There are probably hundreds of other good loads available.

I have a 20" barreled 243 Win. I use a mild load of IMR 7828 with a 100 grain partition.
I don't have the numbers in front of me but over the chrony it goes about 2750 fps.

To me, 243 Win data is 234 Win data, regardless of the barrel length. I just tried several powders until I got an accurate load.

thanks for the input gents, ive loaded 100 95gr nozler ballistic tips useing the data for the 22" barrel, so as long as its safe im happy.
in the load manual it says around 2900fps with a max load of H4895 in a 22" barrel, what would the difference in velocity be in the 20" barrel?
thanks again for the input guys

my model seven is very particullar about bullet type, shoots the sierra pro hunter 100 grain seated .010 off the lands over 42 grn of IMR 4350 much better than other bullet. wonderful for just below the ear shots on doe under 100 yrds. ( from a box blind, certainly not free hand for me )

H4895 is at the faster end of 243 powders so the difference will be less (as it is more likely to be completely burnt) That said it might not give the advertised velocity in the 22" barrel.

If you are not satisfied with H4895 then H4350 is IMHO THE powder for the 243.
