I have been looking at buying a chronograph for over two years and am quite interested in Pacts totally new and redesigned for 2004 Professional Chronograph model. At $229.99 with all the features it comes with, it seems to be the best all-around bargin. It also comes with a solid sounding warenty, and I have and have use for the last five years Pacts electronic powder dispencer and scale with great satisfaction.

So what I would like to know is does anyone out there have any experience with this brand new chronograph, and are there any short commings unique to Pact chronographs besides the ones that all chronos suffer that I should know about.

Thanks to any and all who help me out with this.

I have three Pact Chronos. Two as stand alones and one integral to a timer. All 3 are 1988-1990 vintage. All three have the IR LED printer driver in them for HP printers.

Used them to check IPSC loads. Never failed a chrono stage at any match with them. They checked well against what ever was in use at the major matches ... from local chronies to tandem Oehler's at National level events.

They ran very well for many years. They were put away about 1997 to 1998 because there was just no time to use them. Got'm back out to work with this year. The chrono with timer fired right up and is in use.

The other two were not being consistent and have been sent back for checking and recalibration. Pact is honoring their lifetime warrantee!

I have no complaints at all.

I really like my PACT. It isn't at all fussy about lighting conditions, and gives readings within a few fps of expensive Oehlers. I use the cable remote, which means that I can fire several strings without having to wait for the range to open to reset the chronograph. It also keeps 9 or 10 strings in memory, even if the unit is switched off. Handy for recording details once I get home.

Great value for money - you won't be sorry.
