Besides the reloading manuals, what reloads do you guys use in the 06 with 150 grn bullets and the actual vel. in 22" or 20" bbls. ? I used to have a website for reloading various calibers but lost it. I shot and choronographed some factory loads in my BAr 20" carbine and was very disappointed in the vel.(no wonder I missed a nice buck this year at about 300 yds) The best I could find in the factory stuff was WW powerpoints which gave an average of 2800 in my 20" bbl. If I follow the old rule of 3" high at 100 it doesn't do too bad to 300 yds. Which is about as far as I would ever shoot anyway. But, is there some load that will do better in my 20"bbl ?

I don't know how it will do in your 20-inch barrel, but my .30-06 loves 52 - 53 gr of IMR 4064 with a Ballistic Tip or Hornady Interbond. I get right at 2900 FPS, but that is from a 24-inch barrel. Some books show that as a max load, so work up to it.

Federal Brass
Federal Match Primer
53 grain Reloader 15
150 grain Nosler Partition

This load has delivered excellent accuracy for me in a few 30-06's (all bolt actions). I usually get right at 3,000 fps with a 24" barrel and right about 2,900 fps with a 22" barrel.
