I have a .270 Win that I am loading for. I picked up some 115gn Sierra Matchkings. They are listed as for the 6.8 spc. I was hoping to use them for coyote as a flat shooting bullet that will not tear up hide. When I seat them to max COAL they are only about an 1/8 of an inch seated into the neck. I have never run into this before. I cannot pull them out with my fingers. So neck tension is there. I hate to sound like a rookie but are these safe to fire. I am just wondering if there will be adequate enough seal around the neck when fired. If I have to seat them further I will but this situation had never come up before and it made me curious. Any educated opinion is welcome LOL. Thanx Pat dancing

No safety problem (so long as they are not engaging the lands). You may find better accuracy and velocity consistency with them seated a little deeper.

BTW: What causes you to think they won't tear up a coyote hide? Matchkings aren't built specifically for expansion, but that doesn't mean that they won't expand.

Fully agree.....a poor choice for wanting to save pelts......but the .270 will destroy a pelt with any bullet.

As to seating depth.....I'd much rather seat a full diameter deep and forget the COAL!!
