| With bullets in that weight range I've been using 39 -40 grs of the 4064. Velocity 31-3200 fps. |

| Buy a manual. Don't depend on somebody else's load. Asking semi-anonymous others for a recipe that can potentially kill you seems pretty dim. |

| With all due respect, I have found the loads posted on this forum to be very useful. I have a 2nd edition (I think) Hornady manual that I use for reference but quite frankly I find the real world experience of fellow shooters to more valuable and cost effective than a pile of manuals written with the legal profession in mind. |

| IMR powders data is found at www.hodgdon.com and it's the same as the 6mm Remington. I'd just lookup the data from the manufacturer.

| Clerk: I think you'll find that 4064 is on the fast side for optimum velocities in that cartridge with that weight bullet. I'm using H4831 with bullets of similar weights, which seems about the right speed and produces an excellent velocity/pressure ratio.
I have had good luck with lighter bullets like the 58 and 65 V-Max using slightly faster powders. 4064 would be a good match with the lighter bullets. |

| Stoney,
No disrespect, but 4064 is very useful in the 6mm Rem here.. while 4831 will give faster velocities.. and also great accuracy.... good old 4064 will deliver velocity at maybe a 100 fps less with that bullet weight and the lighter than 90 grainers....
But I have found in my two 6mm Rem's that 4064 has proven to be a more accurate powder in the two that I own, with all bullet weights when comparing 4064 to 4831
At least that is what I have experienced with my two rifles...both also have fast twists.. one in 7 and one in 8.... |
