I'm gonna start loading for a 300 RUM I picked up this summer... 200 gr Accubonds, 28" barrel. I've heard great stuff out of both these powders, any reason to lean towards one or the other?

Thanks!

If you buy into the temperature sensitivity/insensitivy issue, Retumbo is a Hodgdon Extreme powder with temperature insensitivity claims whereas RL25 does not.

If you don't buy into it, then flip a coin Wink

I have a 300 and a 338 RUM and they both love Retumbo.

I load for three different people that have 300 RUMs all of which have Christenson Arms barrels and they all three prefer Retumbo. Jim

RETUMBO all the way and you might want to try the 180 gr TSX.

You can't kill them setting on the couch.

megalo,Iam also in the process of finding the best load for that caliber.I am going to play with four powders namely,REL25;VIT560;IMR7828;H1000.I will be shooting molly coated 180g partitions,a-frames,tsx bullets from remington cases.Rifle used will be an out of the box 700BDL. Last time I tested the 300WM the VIT560 blew everyone away.Interesting to see what happens this time. But,since this caliber is a barrel burner,if one load puts 3 in a dime at 200 with a very high velocity I might stop there.Because at those velocities it doesn't take more than a few to kill the barrels ultra accuracy stage. It's nice to have a good load handy with the various bullets in case you feel like one or the other come hunting.

Vit is coming out with a N570, which should be spectacular in overbore calibers. Vit claims it will have the burn rate ~H50BMG. We'll see.
