I haven't tried the Nosler BT's in my 8mm-06 AI yet, but for 175 gr. Sierras I start at 53 gr. and work up to 57. That gives me 2933 fps. with no pressure signs. rem 9 1/2 LR primers and a col of 3.298. I would think that if you started low this would work for you, and it is a very accurate load in my rifle. Hope this helps - Dan

I have three different loads for my rifle and all are maximum and safe in my rifle. 57 grains of IMR 4895 and Varget with the 180g and 58g Reloader 15 or 58.5G 4320 with the same bullet--the Nosler 180 b.t. The last two loads chronographed 3178 and 3183 fps from a 26" bbl. It goes without saying start low and work up. Sambubba

Sorry Kent. I must have been having a blonde moment. Seem to be a lot of those lately. Anyway, the powder i used in my earlier post is IMR 4064. It works very well in this caliber. - Dan

When loading the 180gr Bal Tip, I have experimented with Varget, IMR4320 and IMR4064. all will reach similar velocities (2900-3000 fps in military length 23 3/8" barrel. Starting loads for all about 54gr. IMR4064 seemed to be the most consistent, standard deviation really shrank as the load became compressed. (< 10fps usually) I ended up using 59gr IMR4064 in a Norma case with CCI 200 primers. 2960fps 3501 ft lbs of muzzle energy. This load showed pressure signs with Federal brass, I was able to go to 60gr in the Norma case with no pressure signs, with just over 3000fps, but the 59gr was so consistent I settled on it. I have gotten > 10 loads out of my Norma cases with these loads before the primer pockets started to get loose. Some cases went 14 loads, but the necks started splitting etc. I,m going to anneal the necks @ th 5th load on my current batch.

Kent I have a std 8mm-06 and I've found that W760 or H414 is the best for the 175-185 gr bullets. A max load of 65 grs of W760 gives me 3000 fps with the 175 gr Sierra.I would suggest you start about 61 or 62 grs and work up carefully. I've had better luck with IMR4350 when I move up to 200 grbullets. Rl 19 is also good with the 200's
8mman: Here's what I got with a 23 3/8" military barrel rechambered to 8mm-06 Imp. Federal brass CCI 200 primer 200gr Nozler Partition - 63.0gr.C IMR 4350 2769fps average SD=7.4fps - 63.5gr.C IMR 4350 2785fps average SD=6.2fps I never did see pressure signs, I'm going to try these loads with my Norma brass as I was able to get more powder and velocity without pressure signs when working up 180gr Balistic Tip loads. 2800fps should be possible with Norma brass and 200gr Partition.

I don't know if you guys are interested, but Sierra has introduced to the American market a 200gr Matchking bullet, something they had previously only sold in Europe. So far no one seems to have it though Grafs is listing it on their website (www.grafs.com) and I receive an email from Midway this morning, indicating it will be offered by them as soon as they can get it in stock. JFYI.
8mman A near max load of 60 grs of IMR 4350 and the 200 speer will give me 2750fps. The Nosler partition is a little slower.RL 19 looks promising vel wise but I'm still testing
