I went to the range yesterday despite predictions of rain for a final zeroing of my CZ527 Carbine. My load now is 30 grains of Reloder 7 with a 123 grain (.310) Hornady. I adjusted the scope based on my last outing and shot a few at 100 yards. Perfect elevation at 100 but I seemed to vary side to side. I reckon it was because the cross hairs of this 4x scope just about cover the target at 100 yards. Then it was crony at 50 and check point of impact. Top target was shooting thru the crony. Average was at 2500 fps. also it was starting to rain so I pulled one on the second target. Now to find a deer target. Back to the still. out of curiosity - is your bore 311 or 308? reason for asking is my mini 30 is a 308 - handles the 310 bullets just fine though

30.0/RE7/123g--.310 seems like a stiff load. I have used 27.0/Re7/125---.308 out of my .308 bore M77 and it is a really accurate load and 'seems' full power . I never chronographed it so maybe I have some room to move up? Maybe the new RE7 is different somewhat from the older stuff. I was loading some .308 Win the other day with new RE7 and noticed it didn't have the little colored granules like the old stuff did. I like RE7( at least the old stuff) quite a bit. That CZ should make a dandy deer rifle. Let us know how she performs. Plateau Hunter

30 grains of Reloder 7 (compressed load) is the max load in my Lyman 37th manual. It was also the most accurate. I started at about 27 grains and worked up in half grain increments. The expander ball in my RCBS die is .310. RCBS also included a .308 expander. Back to the still. Spelling, I don't need no stinkin spelling The older I get, the better I was.

Nice shooting Bill! I think Plateau Hunter may be right. That seems like a stiff load. My Lyman 48 has 26.8gr of R-7 as max for the 123. Just for compairison, Sierra and Speer both have 27 for the 125's, Lyman 48 has 26.8, Hornady 26.6 and Alliant 25.5 for the 123's. Are you seeing any signs of pressure? My Mini-30 will get lose primer pockets with 27gr and 125 Sierra's. The reason I ask is I am about to order a CZ Carbine in 7.62x39.

Well, no extractor marks on the case head, still an easy bolt lift. Primers still look OK. I reloaded one batch tonight that had been loaded with 28 grains and the pockets seemed OK. The batch I shot yesterday was the third time thru the reloading process. The second reloading was at 30 grains and I when I seated the primers for the third process I didn't notice any difference when seating the primers. But it is a max load. I'll go no further.
