I am about to buy my first scale, whats the best route, a standard one, or digital

i really like the rcbs powdermaster scale dispenser combo

Everybody needs an Ohaus 10-10. They also make the RCBS balance beam scale. I have a Lyman DPS 1200 that I use but I keep my 10-10 around to proof it every once in a while. Plus I can use the 10-10 if the electrisity goes off or I run out of batteries or want to do a little load adjusting at the range, etc.

Try Natchez for the RCBS combo at a good price. It is my 6th scale and by far the best............DJ

IMO a balance-beam scale is a waste of money today. The digitals are too easy to use and they both have the same guarantee for accuracy.

Pact is the way to go... it's the same scale as the RCBS branded version, but the pact costs less.

Another vote for DIGITAL

They are pretty cheap, they are very accurate and you will get a lot more loading done quicker. I started with a balance scale and since I got a digital I can't even rember where the old scale is.

The digitals are faster once set up and just as accurate as the beam type, but also are affected more by stray air currents, floresent light starters, some cell phones when placed too close or other electric fields, and the static from that wool plaid shirt you wear when the temps are a bit nippy can cause the wgt to fluctuate a couple tenths.They also need to warm up if not left plugged in.

I`ve both and use the digital for weighing cases, bullets and other objects that I want to FIND the weight of. The powder charges are usually checked on my 10-10. With powder charges I know the wgt I`m looking for, not searching for a unknown weight. I personally would recommend a beam type for a first scale and later move up to a digital if you still feel the need. Don`t forget to include a check wgt set when you order, they`re worth the few $$.

I have used an Ohaus 10-10 Scale for about 30 years now , with no complaints , but when it wears out I am getting a new RCBS 10 -10 ; ) not in any hurry , been there done that - Retired.

You couldn't go wrong with an RCBS 10-10.

Does anybody make a balance scale for left-handed people?

I have a 5-0-2, 5-0-5 and a 10-10. Love all three.

I tried a digital and returned it. I have flourescent lighting over my reloading bench, and you cannot see the numbers.

In addition I found the digital dispensers and scales extremely slow, take up already crowded bench realestate, and just another power line hanging down the back.
