What has been your experience with these two bullets? Accuracy? Terminal performance? Tolerance for High velocity? Other factors?

I have shot prairie dogs with both from a 223. The V Max were more "explosive" than the Ballistic Silver Tips. DOUBLE RIFLE SHOOTERS SOCIETY

I shoot 55gr BTs in my AR and my bolt action PSS with great results. Very accurate. Free men should not be subjected to permits, paperwork and taxation in order to carry any firearm. NRA Benefactor

Accuracy as far as I am concerned are equal, but the V Max is more explosive for varmints... the BTip is better if used on deer or antelope sized game than the V Max...

both are supremely accurate bullets.....the V-Max is more thin jacketed and explosive! /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." I have had my best accuracy with either 50gr or 55gr Nosler BT's in both my 22-250 and 22-250AI. The V-Max's I tried were totally inaccurate in my rifle, a Rem 700 switch barrel, the 50 gr Nosler BT's will handle velocities in excess of 4100fps, and the 55gr BT's will handle just under 4000fps out of my 28" barreled 22-250AI, and I have never had problems with either out of the standard 22-250 with 26" barrel. I also like the fact that Nosler BT's almost always exit on foxes and cats, making them a reliable killer on the odd bigger animal that might show up. I've heard they are awesome on coyotes if you don't want to keep the skins. Here in Australia we use them on pigs, goats and kangaroos as well. 416RigbyHunter.

One has a chance of being as accurate as the other; individual rifles vary. I've had good luck with both, although the edge more often goes to the Nosler. However, the Hornady 35 grain Hornet bullet is in a class of its own in terms of performance in the smallest .22 CFs. The Ballistic Tip has a solid base of jacket metal that provides more penetration than the usual varmint bullet. Its front portion is amply expansive, however. The Hornady, lacking the solid base, tends to penetrate somewhat less. Either is amply expansive for the smallest varmints. Both are good bullets. Use the one that your gun likes the best.

I had a concern about the durability of the V-Max at high speed; already solved this issue with the Nosler BT. A call to the Hornady tech rep indicated that at a 1:12 twist rate and a velocity of 3925 fps the V-max would be good actually up to 4400 fps. Sounds like accuracy is the same or close to it with the V-Max being more explosive on impact from the above comments. Thanks for the input, lads.

V-max for slow twist and Nosler BT for tighter twist.... 1/4MOA difference if used in the wrong twist, no matter the weight, you will see a 1/4MOA difference... Cooper .223 - Burris 8-32x50 JR Custom AR-15 - Burris 8-32x50 Mil-dot

I think the Hornady SXSP is just as or more explosive than either the Nosler or the VMAX. I am cheap and bought a bunch of them (SXSP) years ago in bulk once I figured out they shot so well out of my cZ.

40Grain Nosler ballistic tips over Vit N133 24.8 grains, superb out to 300metres on Foxes, change bullet heads to 52grain A-max for either Foxes or Small Deer like Munties or Roe, V-max, now thats a different ball game I don't keep them in the stores anymore, too many lost Fox!, I'm not badmouthing them off the park, they must have a place in the armoury , maybe like squirrels or some thing similar, just no good for what we shoot!
