Chuck,

I have never turned necks (don't have the equipment), in the past I sorted my new 7mm-08 cases by uniform neck thickness prior to first use, then just discarded cases when the necks got too thick (checked after firing with a bullet). Is this going to be a problem with most of the .308 unfired cases after resizing? Am I already in over my head?

It may be easier to neck 243's or 260 up. That way neck thickness wouldn't be an issue.

Just run the 308 brass into the 7mm-08 resizing die!
Check the neck thickness and if necessary, either ream or turn the neck to the proper thickness!
NOTE: The 308 brass is slightly shorter than the 7mm-08 brass, but this will not present any problems, it's just something to be aware of!
