Does anyone know if Lee makes a 4 hole turret for their Classic Turret Press that takes 1 1/4" - 12 TPI dies? I know Lee makes 50 BMG dies in 1 1/4" - 12 TPI.

Thanks,
Chuck

I do not have specific measurments with this particular model of press but I wonder if there is sufficient clearance to be able to do this due to it's design. If there is you may be able to have a turret modified by a machine shop, but you will also have to consider if your shell holder will work if the turret can be successfuly modified.

Deactivate the Auto-Index and cases as long as the monster 50BMG can be loaded.

From the Lee catalog. May be the words of Richard hisself. Maybe he should be answering these questions.

Thanks Half and Win, I have a call into Lee's engineer, Pat, who designed the Classic Turret Press. Some of the folks I talked to at Lee this morning said the stroke was long enough, but they're not sure there's enough real estate * thickness on the turret to support the larger dies.

I should know by today one way or the other,

Chuck

Well I spoke to the engineer at Lee, just not enough metal in the turret to go to 1 1/4" It's too bad, I really like my Lee Classic Turret press, handloader magazine gave it rave reviews too.

As I recall, you are actually wanting to load for the .505 Gibbs rather than the 50 BMG. Just wanted to clarify that for the other posters. It will make a difference in evaluating your situation.

Actually, Redding's UltraMag also got rave reviews. It'll handle the big Gibbs.

Thanks OldCoyote, I've decided to go with the RCBS AmmoMaster 2 single stage press. Huntington has the RCBS dies in stock so I might as well buy the dies, press and bushing from him as well. I've only had good experiences with Huntington. Sending in my rifle at the beginning of the year for the transformation to 505 Gibbs.

Smiler

I am going to order brass from Huntingtons tomorrow for my .375 Wea. I am too sissy for the .505.

Merry Christmas

That was my other option, rechamber my 375 H&H to the 375 Weatherby (I'm sure a much more useful round in North America)... Not sure it will scratch my itch though ...

Merry Christmas,

Chuck
